Training your bot

Everything the assistant knows comes from three places. Understanding which one to use for what is most of the skill.

Business details — for facts that must never be wrong

The form on the Train screen: hours, address, phone, email, WhatsApp, payment methods, delivery areas, shipping, returns, refunds and warranty.

These are handed to the assistant as facts, so questions like "what time do you close" or "do you take UPI" are answered exactly as you wrote them. Fill this in first — it takes five minutes and covers a surprising share of real questions.

Sources — for the bulk of what you know

Your website. Paste the address and we read that page plus a few pages it links to. Add important pages separately if they are not linked from the front page.

Documents. PDF, Word and text files. Price lists, policy documents, brochures, manuals.

  • Up to 8 MB a file
  • Very long documents are read up to a limit; if that happens you will see a note on the source, and the fix is to split the file
  • Scanned images of text will not read — they need to be real text

Pasted text. For anything not on your website and not in a file.

Saved answers — for anything that must be exact

Question and answer pairs you write yourself. These beat everything else: if a customer asks something close to your saved question, they get your answer word for word.

Use them for:

  • Prices you cannot afford to have paraphrased
  • Policies with exact conditions
  • Anything the bot previously got wrong

Keeping it current

  • Re-sync a website source after you change the page — it does not re-read on its own.
  • Delete a source when it is out of date. Its content leaves the assistant immediately.
  • Answer things in Unanswered as they come up; that is where new knowledge should come from once you are live.
Changed your prices? Re-sync the source, then ask the bot the price in the playground. Thirty seconds, and it is the difference between a right and a wrong answer at 11pm.
